Natalia Criado presents her brand:
How was your passion for design born? What fascinates you about this world?
My passion for design was born when I was little. I was passionate about hand drawing. I had an artist aunt who influenced me to draw and discover my creativity. I’ve always been a curious person. I am passionate about the stories that objects hide, where they come from and how they have traveled through the world of craft techniques.
Where do you find inspiration?
In travels, memories or moments lived, my drawings are a mix between my culture and Italian craft techniques.
What project are you most proud of?
I really like the Joyas en casa project. It is a collection of objects for the table that is translated as “jewels for the table”. Joyas en casa is a bit like going back to the past, remembering the silverware that our grandmothers had hidden and brought to the table for special dinners.
How would you describe your style?
New projects or ideas you are working on?
At the moment I’m working on a series of large-format objects for the table, Vases, Chandeliers.
Where do you produce your pieces?
Part of the production is made in Italy, another part in Colombia.
How much has Italy influenced your design?
Italy has influenced me since school. With its history of art and design, it gave me a lot of knowledge. The history not only influenced me, but also the fact of staying here and being close to the history of art and design, close to the path of beauty and the use of objects. Italy taught me to appreciate objects, and above all, a love for design. I really like being close to the craftsmen and learning the techniques from them.
