Michela Fasanella presents her brand:
How was your passion for fashion born?
I have no idea! I was very young when I started designing clothes, I must have been two or three years old, and nobody in my family was interested in fashion, so this remains a mystery.
Three words to describe your creations.
At the moment I would say feminine, ecological and timeless.
How do you define the aesthetics of your creations?
It is very important for me that my clothes do not become “dated”. I like to think that the person wearing them will be able to use them for a long time, without them going out of style. So, I refer to some classic aesthetic canons, but obviously I love experimenting with new things.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
From many things, really from everything around me. I am attracted to nature, not only as plants and flowers but also as stones, stars, rhythms. I like archetypes, icons but also everything that is everyday and innovative.
Your style icon?
I don’t have one in particular. I feel surrounded by women who know how to convey something strong through style and personality, it’s impossible to pick just one. I certainly prefer women who move in everyday life over actresses or muses, whose style is often studied by professionals.
What do you like most about your job?
Being able to give shape to something that is impalpable, which starts from external stimuli and then moves inside. Tracing the connections between different eras and messages through aesthetics, playing with them.
What message do you want to give with your creations? What story do you want to tell with your clothes?
My clothes do not want to be carriers of messages: they are words, they are means to construct a discourse, of its own. My task is to create with clothes what I feel beautiful around me, but once in the hands of the woman who will wear them their message will no longer belong to me, they have a life of their own and speak the language of the woman who chose them.
How do you see your future?
Maybe 10 years ago I would have answered you – projects. Today it makes me smile to think of “deciding” one’s future. It cannot be done. It winds by itself, day by day, we might as well get comfortable and see where it goes. I have noticed that, without our stubborn driving, it takes much more interesting roads.
