INTERVIEW WITH FLAVIA MARDI:
I am Flavia, I am 34 years old and I come from Bari, a beautiful city in Puglia as well as the capital.
What is the origin of your passion and your brand?
The love for drawing and the passion for fashion led me to create the first sketches. After graduating and several postgraduate courses, I decided to found my brand with the idea of dressing a woman who is free to express her identity and personality.
How would you define your style?
Elegant, refined, impactful.
What leads to creating your own personal style?
Freedom of expression. For me, being free to show yourself is what leads to creating a personal style.
Tell us about the choice of materials and your creative process.
This work makes every phase creative: from the sketch to the comparison with my collaborators, from the choice of materials to the realization of the prototype. Surely what I prefer is the implementation phase: what I had in mind takes shape, comes to life and is the moment when the whole team is satisfied.
What inspires you?
I find music, biographies and mythological tales very inspiring. They transport me to another dimension, allow me to unleash my creativity and to perfectly visualize the items in the collection in my mind.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am working on the next collections, with a closer look at the choice of non-harmful materials and with minimal impact on the environment, both in the production and disposal stages.
What are the personal qualities a designer should have?
Passion, determination, ambition, courage.
How important is Made in Italy for you?
One of the principles on which I founded my brand is Made in Italy. For me it was fundamental to learn from the great Italian masters. The history of Made in Italy is the essence of tradition, it is synonymous with quality, attention to detail, it is the pride of our country.
In which direction do you see the fashion world going?
In the right direction, that of eco-sustainability. Fashion can make an important contribution by promoting low environmental impact both in the creation of materials and in the production and marketing of garments.
